First Steps

Before you start playing around with this free theme, let’s check what you’ve downloaded so far:

  • Documentation – That’s where you
  • License – Some info’s about theme licencing terms
  • Upload – This is where all Theme files are (zipped & unzipped format)

Theme Installation

The first option how to install Big Event WordPress Theme would be to directly upload the big-event.zip file via WordPress Theme Uploader.

  1. Log into your WordPress back-end
  2. Navigate to Appearance > Themes
  3. Click Install Add New
  4. Click Upload Theme
  5. Now you just need to find the “big-event.zip” in the Upload folder and hit Install now.
  6. After Installed then click Active Now

 

Theme Installation From FTP

The second option how to install this Theme would be the upload via FTP manager. It really dosen’t matter which of the two ways you choose, just choose the one you feel more comfortable with.

  1. Login to your FTP account and navigate to your WordPress Installation directory
  2. Navigate to the folder /wp-content/themes
  3. Upload the “big-event” folder (not the .zip-file). This is the folder located inside the “Upload” folder in the zip-file you’ve downloaded from CodexCoder profile of Envato.
  4. Now log into your WordPress backend
  5. Navigate to Appearance > Themes
  6. Find the Theme and click Activate

Plugin Setup

So at this stage, you have probably noticed a warning, asking you to install recommended plugins. This is needed to get the Codestar Framework, Contact Form 7 and Custom Post Type. Installing that is very simple, you just need to click Begin installing plugins and you will be redirected to the plugin installation page where you can install Plugins.

 

Importing Demo Data

If you want to decorate your website like as the Big Event demo, you need to follow the process below:

From here you can able to use your expecting homepage layout. For your kind information, if you import the “Default Demo”, you will get all the homepage layouts without Theater, Event Management, and Annual Music.

Home Page Setup

Creating Home Page, do as attached screenshot below:

Theme Options

1. General Settings

Please go to Dashboard > Theme Options and see all the options carefully and fill the necessary fields :

 

2. Typography Settings

Go to Dashboard > Theme Options and do as attached screenshot below:

3. Event Info

Go to Dashboard > Theme Options and do as attached screenshot below:

4. Event Schedule Settings

Go to Dashboard > Theme Options and as the screenshot below:

 

5. Custom Post Type Slug Change

From here you can able to change the custom post type slug name like the screenshot below:

 

6. Google Maps Settings

Go to Dashboard > Theme Options and put the google maps API key into the box of the screenshot below:

 

 

7. Footer Settings

Go to Dashboard > Theme Options and do as attached screenshot below:

N.B. If you want to use the demo content of Theme Options, you can import the theme options demo from here.

How to use Widget

  • 1. In dashboard click Appearance → Widgets
  • 2. You can choose any of widget here and if you want to use the theme widget used Big Event widget
  • 1. Select any widget click on it Then chose a sidebar for showing it
